Man accused of tampering with food enters plea, doesn't admit guilt.
Written by Michael Willard (o-n-e publisher)

ImageAlmost a year after two former Domino's employees sparked an Internet uproar with a video showing them tampering with food at a Conover franchise, one of the cuplrits pleaded guilty Tuesday.

Michael Setzer entered an "Alford Plea" on a food adulteration charge before Judge Gentry Caudill. His attorney, Shawn Clark, said, the guilty plea for the Class I felony means Setzer takes responsibility for his actions, but doesn't admit any guilt.

"It basically says that he believes the evidence is substantial enough (for him) to be convicted at trial, so it is in his best interest to plead guilty," Clark said of the Alford Plea. "He is not admitting he did anything wrong."

CVCC job fair connects job-seekers, employers
Written by Jordan-Ashley Baker (O-N-E Staff Writer)
Tuesday, 09 March 2010

Image    Job-seekers and employers filled the Multipurpose Complex of Catawba Valley Community College Tuesday for the school’s annual job fair.

“We wanted to provide a forum for employers and potential employees,” said Allan Mackie, manager of the Catawba County Employment Security Commission. “In an economy with double-digit unemployment, which is what Catawba County has, it’s important to help people get their names out there.”

People expecting to walk away from the job fair with a job, however will be disappointed.

“That’s like going to a college fair in a high school gymnasium and expecting to walk away with a college acceptance,” said Kathy Carey, director of cooperative education and job placement at CVCC.
