Catawban Courage: Soldiers Reunion Week with the Historical Association
- Aug. 14 to 18
- 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- During the week of Soldiers Reunion, the Historical Association of Catawba County will install a temporary exhibit that highlights new additions to the collection. 
Friday, Aug. 12 & 13
Soldiers Reunion Softball Tournament - Sponsored by Newton Parks and Recreation
- All day
- Jacob Fork Park and possibly Broyhill Park
Saturday, Aug. 13
Civil War History Day - Sponsored by Capt. C.F. Connor Camp #849 Sons of Confederate Veterans
- First session at 9 a.m., second session at 1 p.m.
- The 1924 Courthouse
- The event is aimed to educate attendees on the Civil War. The event will feature a replica of the CSS H.L. Confederate Submarine.
Sunday, Aug. 14
Soldiers Reunion Cruisin’
- 6:15 p.m.
- Downtown Newton
- This event will feature many antique cars, as well as tunes from the band “Music Unlimited.”
Monday, Aug. 15
Gospel Music Night 
- 7:30 p.m.
- Newton Courthouse Square
- Performers will be Jeff and Sheri Easter of Ga., along with Eric and Laura Ollis and their sons Payton and Mikey.
Tuesday, Aug. 16
Soldiers Reunion Cornhole Tournament - Sponsored by Newton Parks and Recreation
- 6:30 p.m.
- Newton Recreation Department Parking Lot

Beach Music Night
- 7:30 p.m.
- East side of the courthouse square
- Music will be provided by “The Embers.”
Wednesday, Aug. 17
Soldiers Reunion Baby Parade 
- 6 p.m.
- Newton Courthouse Square

Pet Mania 
- 7 p.m.
- West side of the 1924 Courthouse

Country Music Night 
- 7:30 p.m.
- Newton Courthouse Square
- This event will feature music from “Crimson Rose.”
Thursday, Aug. 18
Outdoor Memorial Service 
- 10 a.m.
-West side of the 1924 Courthouse

Reunion Day lunch hour concert
- 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Newton Courthouse Square
- Music will be provided by the “GMC Jazz Band.”

American Legion Hosts Reception to honor all Soldiers Reunion Beauty Queens and their courts
- 2 p.m.
- In meeting room of the Main County Library Complex on West C Street

Soldiers Reunion Fish Fry
- Noon
- American Legion Post 16 Headquarters on Southwest Blvd.
- The reunion fish fry is for all local veterans.

Soldier Reunion Horseshoe Tournament - Sponsored by Newton Parks and Recreation
- 7 p.m.
- Westside/Jaycee Park
- This single elimination tournament is open to participants 16 and older. The entry fee for each two-person team is $10. Teams must register by 6:45 p.m. the day of. Entry forms will be available at the Newton Recreation Department, Newton City Hall and Central Recreation Center.

Reunion Day and Parade
- Vendors set up at 9 a.m., Reunion Service starts at 4 p.m and parade immediately follows.

Saturday, Aug. 20
27th Annual Southern Biscuit Reunion 5K Run/Walk and One-Mile Fun Run - Sponsored by Newton Parks and Recreation
- Fun Run begins at 8 a.m., 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. 
- Newton Recreation Center 
- Race application are available now at Newton City Hall, Newton Recreation Center and online at www.newtonnc.gov/165krunapplication.pdf. Preregistration runs until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17 and is $15 for the 5K run/walk, and $10 for the one-mile fun run. Late registration runs until 7:30 a.m. on race day and is $20 for the 5K and $15 for the one-mile fun run.
Sunday, Aug. 21 
Soldiers Reunion Annual 30-60-100 Mile Century Bike Ride - Sponsored by Newton Parks and Recreation
- 8 a.m.
- Newton Recreation Center
- Riders younger than 18-years-old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Preregistration is $20 for the ride and will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17. Late registration runs until 7:30 a.m. on ride day for $25. Ride applications are available at Newton City Hall, Newton Recreation Center and online at www.newtonnc.gov/2016bikerideapplication.pdf.
