Pickers have a mall in Maiden

August 31, 2012

Shelves upon shelves of new and antique items for sale. While looking for a fishing pole, shoppers could end up with an arm full of collectables before they ever leave the store. The new variety mall in Maiden, Pickers Paradise gives the collectors as well as bargain shoppers plenty of merchandise. The grand opening of the new variety mall is this Saturday at noon.

“We have everything from antiques, collectable and jewelry to electronics, hunting supplies and furniture,” co-owner Rick Heavner said.

The variety mall idea comes from a two-year friendship between Garrison Cook and Rick Heavner. The Maiden store will include vendors from throughout the area who rent space from the co-owners. Vendors can rent four shelves for $15 a month or a booth space for $100 a month. The partners aren’t asking for commission from the vendors, Heavner said. The store also features an eBay partnership for sellers for $5 a month and a percentage of the sale.

“This is just another avenue of sales from what we’ve been doing,” said Heavner. “I’ve been looking for this type of outlet to sell since I started.”
