Showing Conover some 'love'

Members of a Conover church love their city and want to show it.

Tri-City Baptist Church is working with Feed The Homeless, Meals on Wheels, Conover Police Department and many other programs to give back to the community for the next two months.
“We want citizens to know God hasn’t forgotten then and he cares,” Tri-City Associate Pastor Hugh Whitfield said. “We want to send people out in the community to love and show Christ’s love.”

Whitfield said his idea of The Conover Love Tour came when he wanted to do something to lead church members out of the walls of the church and into the community. He said he felt like the church was brought to the area to serve the surrounding area and love on the community. The process from there was to find out when programs were available to volunteers.

“The church is doing a great job with not only just focusing on religion but engaging in the community as a whole,” Conover City Manager Donald Duncan said.
