VARSITY BASKETBALL: Lady Red Devils thrash conference foe East Lincoln, while boys earn narrow win over Mustangs, 70-69

Newton-Conover’s varsity basketball teams hosted the potent offensive East Lincoln Mustangs on Tuesday night. Both the boys and girls’ teams were in a battle of the top-tier squads in the South Fork 2A Conference.

Red Devils honor wrestling legacy, coach; defeat rival Maiden 63-16

On a night when the Newton-Conover wrestling team honored its past and long-time head coach, the Red Devils dispatched rival Maiden 63-16 to earn their second South Fork 2A win of the season on Friday at Lemon Gymnasium.

The Newton-Conover wrestling team swept its road tri-match on Tuesday afternoon against Lake Norman and host North Lincoln.

During the Red Devils’ match against the Wildcats, Newton-Conover junior Ryan Walker earned his 100th career victory at the school.
