Bears make it 4-for-4 against Red Devils, advance in playoffs

Faced with the difficult task of beating rival Newton-Conover for the fourth time — this one in the postseason, the Bunker Hill volleyball team was up to the challenge.

The Lady Bears (16-6) won in straight sets against the Lady Red Devils (11-10) on Saturday in Claremont, advancing to the second round of the 2A playoffs for the third-straight season.

Set scores were 25-17, 25-16 and 25-18.

Karsyn Mundy and Hannah Houston led Bunker Hill in the contest with 12 kills each.

Morgan Williams paced Newton-Conover with 10 kills and three blocks.
