Catawba man falls victim to assault, attempted robbery

By Cigi Sparks

Jordan Isaac Lyons, 18, of Catawba, fell victim to an assault, and what police believe to have been an attempted robbery, early Wednesday morning after he heard someone loudly beating on the back door of his apartment.
Lyons opened the door to three intruders and was then hit across the head with a beer bottle and then nearly assaulted with a concrete block. Lyons fired two shots at the intruders โ€“ one that went through the back door and then through the window of his truck โ€“ and another that was fired at his assailant just below the armpit, wounding him in the torso, according to Catawba Police Chief Duane Cozzen.
