The Catawba County Board of Commissioners met at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the 1924 Courthouse in Newton.

Director of Utilities and Engineering Barry Edwards and Construction and Project Manager John Cameron provided an update to construction the new Justice Center. The exterior of the building is approximately 95 percent complete at this time. A courtroom mock-up has been prepared and has been reviewed by several Catawba county judges, Sheriff Reid and Clerk of Superior Court Kim Sigmon. Appropriate changes have been made to it so that the needs of those that use it will be met. Framing has been completed and studs installed in several areas of the building including the Clerk of Court area. Technology installation has begun in the 911 Center with cable being run.
