Catawba County seems to come alive on the first weekend of Fall. This weekend, various events are happening locally such as festivals and rallies.

31st Annual Harvest Folk Festival:
About: This event is held annually by the Historical Association of Catawba County. Old time trades suck as molasses making, bee keeping, gold panning, wood carving and more will be demonstrated at the festival.
When: Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27 from 1 to 5 p.m.
Where: Murray’s Mill, located at 1489 Murray’s Mill Road in Catawba
Cost: $5 for adults and free for children 10-years-old and younger

Anne Stedman Campaign Rally:
About: This event is held being held to show support of Anne Stedman as she run for re-election for the position of Mayor of Newton. Hotdogs, chips and drinks will be served. Also, the jazz band, G.M.C. will play throughout the event.
When: Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m.
Where: 602 North Main Avenue
Cost: This event is free to the public

Butts and Bean Festival:
About: The Butts and Beans Festival will be held this weekend at the Hickory American Legoin Fairgrounds. At this festival the Butts and Beans BBQ challenge is held annually to raise funds for the Catawba County Emergency Medical Servies Hardship Fund, Inc.
When: Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27
Where: 1127 U.S. Highway 70 in Newton
