HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A Hendersonville woman has died after she was struck by a car while doing yardwork at her home.

North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper David Williams told local media that 64-year-old Betty Lavern Grigsby was using a weed trimmer when she was struck Wednesday afternoon.

A 16-year-old Etowah girl was charged Thursday with death by motor vehicle.

Troopers do not suspect drugs or alcohol and say the girl was not using her cellphone when the incident occurred.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
