NEWTON, N.C.—Newton welcomed The Hen & Egg to the city during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, Feb. 27. The new restaurant is located at 204 North College Ave. and serves breakfast and lunch.

“We’ve done very well so far,” said Fred Causby, who owns the restaurant with his wife, Lamia Causby. “We’re very appreciative to the community for their support.”

The Hen & Egg’s breakfast menu features classics like pancakes, waffles, omelets, and egg plates with a choice of side items and meats. There are also breakfast specialties, including lox and bagels, eggs benedict, breakfast chimichanga, scramblers, crepes, and chicken and biscuit. Breakfast is available from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For lunch, which is served from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday, The Hen & Egg offers meat and vegetable plates and a soup of the day. Meat choices include country fried steak, meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, and pot roast with veggies. More than three dozen vegetables and sides are available to choose from every day, and new items will soon be added to the menu.

Comfortable booths and tables line the dining room. Café tables in front of the restaurant and a deck out back are perfect for outdoor dining. An espresso bar features fresh drip coffee, as well as lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, and flavored coffees.

“I want to thank you for your investment in Newton,” Newton Mayor Anne P. Stedman said during the ribbon cutting. “I can’t say enough about how quaint and cute and warm this place is. We’re here to support you.”

“We’re thankful for all our employees, and we’re glad to be here in Newton,” Lamia Causby said.
