Governor Roy Cooper recently announced that on Friday, May 8, Phase One of reopening of businesses will take place. The order states that even though the stay-at-home order remains in place, people will be allowed to go into any business that’s open. The change is significant because there will no longer be just essential businesses open. That means that many small businesses and specialty boutiques plan to open their doors locally.

After weeks on end of being closed, some Newton and Conover businesses will be reopening on Friday. Not completely sure of ongoing plans, they are ready to greet their customers again and see some profit.

Locally, several small businesses have shared what it means for them.

In Newton, Dana’s Fine Jewelry and 2 Pink Magnolias are ready to open their doors.
