Traffic was completely stopped on East Conover Boulevard in Conover on Thursday at approximately 3:30 p.m. when Conover Police Department and Conover Fire Department responded to an accident involving a moped.

A passenger truck was stopped at the intersection of 4th Street Place SE and Conover Boulevard East waiting on oncoming traffic, according to Conover Patrolman Daniel Baker. A moped driven by an unidentified man traveling on Conover Boulevard East failed to stop and rear ended the truck.

The man suffered significant injuries including a broken leg, according to Baker. He was transported to Catawba Medical Center.
Roads were reopened approximately 30 minutes later. It is unknown if citations will be issued because the investigation is still ongoing.
