Post 535 blanks Post 29, claims first Area IV title

With a bid to the North Carolina American Legion state tournament wrapped up already by virtue of hosting the event, Union County had nothing to lose in Monday’s Area IV title game against Caldwell County at Henkel-Alley Field.

Still, Post 535 wanted to leave no doubt it was the best team in the league.

Behind two RBIs each from Chandler Castleberry and Bailey Connell, Union County claimed its first-ever Area IV championship with a 10-0 seven-inning run-rule victory against Post 29.
