Southeast Regional kicks off at Lenoir-Rhyne

Play officially started Wednesday at the Babe Ruth Southeast Regional tournament, which is being held at the Lenoir-Rhyne University baseball field and is hosted by the Big Red Park Foundation of Newton.

This is the second-straight year that the event, which is for 18 year olds, is being held at Lenoir-Rhyne.

State champions from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida are playing in the event for the right to advance to the Babe Ruth World Series, which takes place in Washington state.
